Our Purpose and Vision

Community leaders throughout Oceanside are partnering with The San Diego Foundation to create and sustain a local foundation to serve solely the community of Oceanside.

    Our Purpose is to:

  • Meet emerging needs by encouraging and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy by and for the benefit of all who live, work and play in Oceanside
  • Build a Oceanside community endowment
  • Provide funding annually to Oceanside organizations and causes
  • Give Oceanside community members a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit Oceanside now and forever

    Structure:

  • Individuals and businesses can become members of The Oceanside Community Foundation by making a donation of $1,000 or more
  • The first 100 members who commit at least $1,000 per year for five years will be designated "Founders"
  • Half of the money will immediately go into annual grant making
  • Half will go into a permanent endowment
  • All members will vote each year for the local grant applications they deem most worthy and most needed

    Our Short Term Goals:

  • Recruit 100 Founding members by June 30, 2008
  • $50,000 in awards in 2008

    Our Long Term Goals:

  • By 2013 Endow Oceanside with a $5 million endowment that will benefit the community now and forever
  • By 2013 provide at least $250,000 per year to benefit organizations and individuals in Oceanside

    Short Term Progress:

  • 35 Founding Members
  • $160k in contributions and commitments
